Facial Plastic SurgeryRhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that improves the size and shape of the nose. In the past, and still today, many surgeons perform rhinoplasty in a reductive fashion. Bone and cartilage are removed to make the nose smaller. The problem with this technique is that the skeletal support is removed and as scar tissue takes over, the nose can loose its shape. This is the reason many noses have a certain strange look to them. For example, the tip may be pinched, nostrils retracted, or the columella hangs. In addition, the patients may have difficulty breathing from collapsed airways.

Dr. Bustillo uses a state of the art technique named “ Structural Rhinoplasty,” where the shape of the nose is improved by reshaping the nasal tip cartilages, instead of removing them. The result is a very natural appearing nose that will age well with time and maintain its original shape. Read more about rhinoplasty performed by Dr. Bustillo.

A facelift is cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the aging face and neck. As the face ages, there three basic changes that occur. The facial tissues descend inferiorly, the face looses volume, and the skin looses elasticity. Surgery can help improve the first two. Unfortunately to date, we have not found a way to improve the third.

Many patients are apprehensive about having a “pulled” or “overdone” appearance. Dr. Bustillo is well known for his natural and conservative facelift results. He performs a very specialized facelift, called the deep plane facelift. Instead of pulling the superficial layers, he identifies the muscle underneath the skin and repositions it. Many times fat is also transferred to the face to help improve the volume loss. Read more about the facelift procedure performed by Dr. Bustillo.

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that improves the aging eyelids. The surgery can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both simultaneously depending on the needs of the patient.

The upper eyelids are one of the first features of the face to show age. The eyelids begin to droop and the eyelid crease becomes hidden as the skin overhangs it. Surgery involves removing the excess skin and a small amount of fat that is usually present in the inner corner, close to the nose.

The lower eyelids begin to change shape with age. The fat that is usually underneath the eye begins to bulge forward, giving way to what is commonly called “bags.” Surgery involves removing some of the excess fat and repositioning some of the other fat to improve the lower eyelid contour. The eyelid muscle is re-suspended and a small amount of skin is removed to help improve the wrinkles. Read more about the facelift procedure performed by Dr. Bustillo.
